  • What happens if the battery dies?

    The Yale YDM4109 uses AA batteries. When the battery is low, the lock will notify you via the keypad and the Yale Home app. If the battery dies, you can use a 9V battery to temporarily power the lock or use a physical key to unlock the door.

  • Can I still use a physical key with the Yale YDM4109?

    Yes, the Yale YDM4109 includes a backup physical key for emergency access.

  • Is the Yale YDM4109 weatherproof?

    The Yale YDM4109 is designed for indoor use. If installed on an exterior door, ensure it is protected from direct exposure to rain and extreme weather conditions.

  • Can I share access with family or guests remotely?

    Yes, you can share access with others using the Yale Home app. You can create and send virtual keys to family members or guests, allowing them to unlock the door using their smartphones.

  • How do I update the firmware on my Yale YDM4109A?

    Firmware updates are delivered automatically through the Yale Home app when your lock is connected via Bluetooth. Ensure your smartphone is connected to the lock and has an active internet connection to receive updates. Make sure the application screen is turned on during the firmware update process.

  • Can I use the Yale YDM4109A without the Yale Home app?

    Yes, the Yale YDM4109A can be operated manually using the keypad or physical key. However, the Yale Home app provides additional features like remote access, virtual keys, and activity logs.

    The Yale YDM4109A is compatible with most standard residential doors. Check the following:

    Door thickness: 40-90 mm.

    Backset: 60 mm.

  • How do I install the Yale YDM4109 Smart Lock?

    Installation instructions are included in the product manual. You can also fill our installation form from the website and one of our specialists will come and install the lock for you.

    Ensure the lock is compatible with your door thickness and type before installation.

     

  • What happens if someone enters the wrong code multiple times?

    The Yale YDM4109A has a built-in security lockout feature. If an incorrect code is entered multiple times (usually 5 attempts), the lock will temporarily disable the keypad for 3 mins to prevent unauthorized access.

  • How do I know if my Yale YDM4109A is locked or unlocked?

    Yale Home app: The app displays the lock status in real-time when connected via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (using Connect X bridge)

    Manual check: Turn the thumb turn or use the physical key to verify the lock status.

  • What is the range of Bluetooth connectivity for the Yale YDM4109A?

    The Yale YDM4109A has a Bluetooth range of up to 10 meters in open space. Walls, doors, and other obstacles may reduce this range.

Troubleshooting

  • The Yale Home app is not connecting to the lock

    • Enable Bluetooth: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
    • Check the module for any misalignment or damaged pin.
    •  Re-pair the lock: Remove the lock from the app and re-pair it is following the setup instructions.
  • The lock is making unusual noises

    Check alignment: Ensure the lock is properly aligned with the door strike plate.

  • Lock is unresponsive or malfunctioning in humid conditions

    • Check if the lock is installed in a well-ventilated area.
    • Wipe the lock surface with a dry cloth to remove moisture.
    • Use a dehumidifier near the lock to reduce humidity levels.
  • Lock is not connecting to Wi-Fi or frequently disconnects

    •  Verify that your Wi-Fi network is working properly.
    • Ensure the lock is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
    • Double-check the Wi-Fi credentials entered in the Yale Home App.
    • Restart your Wi-Fi router and the lock.
    • If the problem continues, perform a soft reset
  • Lock is not functioning or displays a low battery alert

    • Replace the batteries with new, high-quality alkaline batteries.
    • Ensure the batteries are inserted correctly.
    • Inspect the battery compartment for corrosion or debris and clean if necessary.
    • If the issue persists, perform a soft reset.
  • Lock is not auto-locking or auto-locks too quickly

    • Open the Yale Access App and review the auto-lock settings.
    • Adjust the auto-lock timer to your preference.
    • Ensure the door is fully closed when testing the auto-lock feature.
    • If the issue continues, perform a soft reset
  • Lock is producing alarm sound

    • We will need to perform a soft reset.
    • Open the battery cover.
    • Remove one battery and press and hold the Reset button.
    • Insert the battery while holding the reset button.
    • You will hear a sound. Release the reset button.
  • Internal Forced Lock is not working

    During installation, make sure the panic function screws(2ea) on the mortice are fixed from the inside of door before mortise installation.
