How to Enable Power Saving Mode for the Yale Smart Keypad

The Yale Smart Keypad Once you set the keypad up, follow the steps below to find, update, and use your personal Entry Code.

To find your Personal Entry Code:

Open up the Yale Access App
Select the house from the keychain
Go to the Guest List
Select yourself from the guest list to get to MY ACCESS

Your personal entry code(s) appears below the associated lock if there are multiple locks. Depending on the settings on the lock, it may be blanked out as a security precaution. If this is the case you will need to authenticate with your phones passcode/biometics to view the code. If you want to update an existing personal entry code, follow the steps above, then:

Select the Entry Code you wish to change
Enter a new code or update the existing code in the entry code field
Select the back arrow or save changes
Select SAVE CHANGES

Modifications and updates will appear in MY ACCESS.

To use your Personal Entry Code

Enter your personal entry code on the keypad
Press the Yale button
The keypad light will pulse and then flash when the lock operation has been completed.

Entry codes need to be between 4 and 6 digits and a user may have up to 220 entry codes on a lock.

Guests with keypad access have a blue circle with a hash symbol to the right of their name in the Guest List. If you have assigned Entry Codes to other guests, they will follow the same steps to access and update their personal entry codes from within the Yale Access App.

Keypad Access

Follow the steps below to give a Guest keypad access:

Go to the Guest List screen, and select the Invite button
Choose the person you want to invite
Select Access Level on the Invite screen
Choose Keypad Only access level
Tap the back arrow
Select Send Invite

Adding an Entry Code to an App Invite

If you want to invite your Guest to the App and the keypad, follow the steps below:

Go to the Guest List Screen, and select the Invite Button
Choose the person you want to invite
On the Invite screen, Select Entry Code
Toggle Entry Code Active on
You can customize or change the entry code by tapping on the code form field.
Tap the back arrow button
Select Send Invite

Giving an Entry Code to a Current Guest or Owner

If you want to give an entry code to someone who already has Guest or Owner access, the following steps apply:

Select the person you'd like to give a personal entry code from the Guest List screen
Select Entry Code from the Guest Setting screen
Toggle Entry Code Active on
You can customize or change the entry code by tapping on the code form field.
Tap the back arrow button
Select Send Invite

App Access + Entry Code User

Navigate to the Guest List.
Click on the user whose entry code you want to manage.
Tap on App Access.
Choose Always, Recurring, or Temporary.
The schedule you choose will apply for both App Access and Entry Code Access.

Entry-Code Only User

Navigate to the Guest List.
Click on the user whose entry code you want to manage.
Tap on PIN Access.
Choose Always, Recurring, or Temporary.

Here we cover the steps necessary to disconnect a Yale Smart Keypad from a Yale Smart Lock.

PLEASE NOTE: You must be within Bluetooth range of the Keypad in order to disconnect the device from the lock. The following steps will disconnect your keypad from your lock:

Open the Yale Access App.
Tap the gear in the icon bar and select Keypad Settings.
Select Disconnect Keypad (you may need to scroll down the list).
Select Disconnect. This action triggers the system to send your unique reset code.
Enter the reset code and press the Yale button on the keypad to complete the disconnection process.

This completes the disconnection process and your keypad is no longer connected to your lock.

To find Smart Keypad settings:

Select the Settings tab (gear icon)
Tap the keypad icon

Details about each Keypad setting are outlined in the following table:

Keypad Setting	Description
Enable/ disable Keypad*	Allows you to temporarily disable your keypad without needing to uninstall it.
One-Touch Locking*	Lock your door with just the Yale button.
Disconnect*	Removes the keypad from the associated lock. The reset code will be sent to your phone to complete this action.
Keypad Info	Includes hardware information such as battery level, serial number, and current firmware version.
Power Saving Mode*	Preserve battery life by enabling Power Saving Mode. Power Saving Mode disables the IR sensor, which prevents the Smart Keypad from detecting nearby motion. The keypad does not light up when a hand approaches if Power Saving Mode is enabled.

*You must be within bluetooth range of the Keypad to enable/disable these Keypad settings.

To update your Yale Smart Keypad’s firmware please perform the following steps:

Open the Yale Access App when you’re standing next to the keypad and go to the lock circle screen for the lock the keypad is connected to.
When prompted with the keypad firmware update alert, tap “start”.
Press and hold the red Yale button on the keypad for 5 seconds. You’ll see the progress bar indicate that a connection has been established and that the update has started.
Remain on the update screen until the update completes.
Your Smart Keypad is now updated.

Troubleshooting:

If the firmware update process is interrupted you'll need to start over.
If the update doesn't begin, try holding the Yale button down for 10 seconds instead of 5.

With the Hidden Entry Codes lock feature, you have the option to add an extra layer of security to view personal entry codes in the App by adding your phone's authentication.

When the Hidden Entry Codes lock feature is enabled, your phone’s authentication is needed to:

View user entry codes
Disable the feature

When this feature is disabled, Entry Codes are visible when you select the entry code in a Guest’s Profile. Enabling Hidden Entry Codes provides an extra layer of security for you and other Owners of your lock because authentication is required to view entry codes.

What products can I enable this feature for?

This setting works with any Yale Assure Lock, or Yale Smart Keypad, set up to work with the Yale Access App via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Who can see the Entry Codes of all users?

When this setting is enabled, any Lock Owner can see another user’s Entry Code after authentication. Guests are limited to their own Entry Codes.

How do I enable this feature?

To enable the Hidden Entry Code feature:

Open the App
Go to Settings
Select a Lock (with either an associated Smart Lock or a lock with a built in keypad)
In the Security settings, toggle Hidden Entry Codes on

After you enable this feature, your phone’s authentication setting will run when you tap on the entry code in the profile.

PLEASE NOTE: If the lock is not paired to an Wi-Fi bridge, a bluetooth connection is required to see the Entry Code.

If I enable this feature, will it be enabled for other lock users?

If you enable the Hidden Entry Code feature in your settings, the feature will also be enabled for other Owners of the associated lock.

I enabled this feature, but now it is disabled. Why?

If you enabled the Hidden Entry Code setting, but it has been disabled, it is likely that another lock Owner disabled the feature in their settings.
