1.1 General
This information notice explains how data generated by, or collected through, the Yale Smart ecosystem (the “Product”) is accessed, used, and shared (including to provide Yale Home App , Yale Alarm App, Yale Smart Living app, Yale View App and Yale Home View App (the “Services”)) and how the data is otherwise processed, in line with the requirements under Article 3 of the EU Data Act.

Smart home products are designed to give you convenience and peace of mind, but it’s more than just providing you with safety, it’s a lifestyle. Stepping your home up to the next level, smart home tech combines intelligent living with stylish security designs.
1.2.1 Overview of Yale Connected Products and Services
Yale offers a comprehensive Smart Security Ecosystem designed to enhance home safety, convenience, and control. The ecosystem includes:
- Smart Locks (e.g., Yale Linus®)
- Smart Safes
- Smart Cabinet
- Smart Alarms
- Smart Indoor and Outdoor Cameras
- Smart Video Doorbells
- Smart Storage Solutions
- Smart Gate and Garage Openers
- CCTV Systems
All these devices are interoperable and can be managed through the Services, which serves as a central hub for monitoring and control.
1.2.2 Core Functions
- Remote Access & Control: Lock/unlock doors, arm/disarm alarms, and view camera feeds from anywhere via the Yale Home app.
- Automation & Integration: Devices can trigger actions in each other (e.g., unlocking the door disarms the alarm and activates privacy mode on cameras).
- Smart Home Compatibility: Seamless integration with popular voice assistants and smart home platforms.
- Security & Monitoring: Real-time alerts, video recording, and access logs provide peace of mind and situational awareness.
1.2.3 Data Collection and Storage
- Data Collected:
- Device usage data (e.g., lock/unlock events, alarm status)
- Video and audio recordings (from cameras and doorbells)
- User access logs and app interactions
- Location-based data (for features like geo-fencing)
- Devices paired through Matter
- Storage Arrangements:
- Data is stored securely
- On the device itself (SDL, cameras, keypads, alarms,…)
- in the cloud, managed by Yale (part of ASSA ABLOY).
- Video recordings and access logs are typically stored in encrypted formats.
- Users may have control over data retention settings via the app.

The following parties receive data from the Product and/or the Service and may use the data for their own purposes (‘data holders’):
The Yale Home app allows users to integrate their Yale product with services offered by other companies, to allow their Yale product to be managed through those services, such as smart speakers and other IoT service providers. Where a user enables an integration, the other company may be a Data Holder.

The below table lists the types of data which may be generated by a customers’ use of one of our apps. The table explains all data which may be generated and therefore depending on which app is used and which products are controlled using the app, the data generated may only be a sub-set of that listed below.

Users may request us to share data with a specific third party by submitting a formal request through Customer Support (https://www.yalehome.com/global/en/support).
We may under certain circumstances deny a request for data sharing to third parties.

If you believe our handling of your data infringes your rights under applicable legislation, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent authority in your jurisdiction.

The contract with Yale is valid as long as the customer uses the app or the subscription, beginning on the date the customer signs up or otherwise agrees to the Terms of Use of the Service.
Customers may terminate the contract at any time by:
- Cancelling subscription directly through the Yale Home app or your user dashboard, or
- Contacting Yale Customer Support via the official support channels listed on www.yalehome.com.
