Troubleshooting

  • What if I forget my PIN code?

Don’t worry - you can still open your safe using the backup keys provided. Once open, press the red reset button located above the battery compartment to set a new PIN code.

  • No Power to the Safe

If your safe has no power and the batteries have completely run out before you’ve had a chance to replace them, don’t worry. You can still open the safe using the backup keys provided.

    Once the safe is open:

    1. Replace the batteries with new ones.
    2. Reprogram your user code.
  • Why is my safe keypad not responding or accepting my PIN?

The Yale Electronic Safe L2 is equipped with a two-stage lockdown mechanism designed to enhance security.

    • After three incorrect PIN entries, the keypad enters a temporary lockdown for 20 seconds.
    • If three more incorrect attempts are made after the initial lockdown, the safe will enter an extended lockdown lasting 5 minutes.

To bypass the lockdown and regain access, you can use the override key to open the safe manually.

  • How do I know when to change the batteries in my safe?

    • The safe uses 4 x AA batteries, providing a total voltage of 6V.
    • When the battery level drops to 4.5V, the red LED will flash when you open the safe using the PIN code. This indicates that the batteries are low.
    • To ensure reliable operation, replace all 4 batteries with high-quality AA alkaline batteries as soon as the low battery warning appears.
  • My safe keypad is working but no longer makes a sound

Silent Mode may have been activated accidentally.

    1. To restore sound, press and hold the Settings button for three seconds.
    2. To re-enable Silent Mode, press and hold the Settings button again for three seconds.

This will toggle the sound on or off.
