The KeySense feature on the Linus® Smart Lock L2 Lite is activated by a physical button located at the center of the device. Pressing this button allows you to control the lock without using the app.
This setting refers to the short press feature of the KeySense button, to immediately lock or unlock the Linus® Smart Lock L2 Lite.
To access this setting:
- Open the Yale Home App.
- Select your lock and then tap the gear icon in the top right of the screen to get to Lock Settings.
- Select "KeySense".
- Toggle "Lock or Unlock Immediately", on or off, depending on your preference.

This setting refers to the long press feature of the KeySense button, to lock the Linus® Smart Lock L2 Lite, after a preset delay period.
By default, Linus L2 Lite will have this function disabled.
To enable this, please follow the steps below:
- Open the Yale Home App.
- Select your lock and then tap the gear icon in the top right of the screen to get to Lock Settings.
- Select "KeySense".
- Toggle "Lock After Delay", on or off, depending on your preference.
- When enabling the "Lock After Delay" feature, you will be presented with an additional setting option called "Lock Delay Timing". This is where you can customise the delay period.
The Yale Linus® Smart Lock L2 Lite will clearly show via the app if the door is locked, or unlocked. It is important to note however, that this product does not have the ability to show if the door is physically closed, or ajar.
The Yale Linus® Smart Lock L2 Lite offers simple, secure control through the Yale Home app when you’re within Bluetooth range.
For broader smart home integration, L2 Lite supports Matter over Thread, enabling compatibility with a wide range of popular devices and platforms. This means you can manage your lock locally or remotely via your preferred smart home system.
Because L2 Lite doesn’t include built-in Wi-Fi, connecting to third-party devices that don’t support Matter over Thread requires the Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge (sold separately). The bridge also unlocks full remote access through the Yale Home app, so you can control your lock from anywhere.
- The Yale Linus® Smart Lock L2 Lite can be operated via the Yale Home app, where you can also allow app access to guests.
- Entry code and Fingerprint access is also possible if a Yale Smart Keypad 2 - Fingerprint (sold separately) is installed.
- Access is also possible via the Yale Dot® (sold separately).
- Finally, for emergency situations, a mechanical key can also be used.
When your lock’s battery level drops to 20%, you’ll receive a low-battery notification on your phone. It’s recommended to replace the batteries as soon as you receive the first notification. If you don’t, you’ll begin receiving daily emails and push notifications as the battery level becomes critical. At the critical stage, it’s important to replace the batteries immediately to avoid lock failure.
- To remove the locks battery cover, press down on the side button to release the holding clip.
- While holding the button, pull the cover back to remove it.
- Remove and replace the 3 x CR123A batteries within.
- Slide the battery cover back onto the lock, you will hear a click to confirm the cover is fully secured.

The Linus® Smart Lock L2 Lite works seamlessly with other Yale smart devices through the Yale Home app. This app lets you connect and control all your Yale Smart Security Ecosystem products—including smart locks, indoor and outdoor cameras, video doorbells, alarms, storage solutions, and gate or garage openers—from one convenient place.
With this integration, you can create a fully customizable smart home experience. For example, your Yale Home Smart Alarm can disarm specific areas of your home when the door is unlocked, and your Yale Home Smart Indoor Camera can automatically switch to privacy mode when you arrive, then resume recording when you leave.

You still need the Yale Connect Wi‑Fi Bridge if you want remote access through the Yale Home app. Here’s how it works:
What You Can Do Without a Yale Connect Wi‑Fi Bridge
If your Linus L2 Lite is connected to a Matter over Thread‑compatible device (such as a Google Nest Hub), you can:
- Control the lock locally and remotely using the Google ecosystem
(Google Home app, Nest Hub, Nest Speakers, etc.) - Use the Yale Home app locally when you are within Bluetooth range of the lock
This means you can still lock and unlock the door through Google even when you're away from home.
What Still Requires the Yale Connect Wi‑Fi Bridge
To use remote access in the Yale Home app, such as:
- Locking/unlocking from anywhere
- Viewing lock status while away
- Receiving activity notifications
- Managing users remotely
…you will still need the Yale Connect Wi‑Fi Bridge.
Important Clarification
Matter over Thread does not provide remote access for the Yale Home app. It only enables integration and communication with supported smart‑home platforms.
Remote control through the Yale Home app requires the Yale Connect Wi‑Fi Bridge.
The Linus, Linus L2 and Linus L2 Lite are designed to work mainly as smart locks using the app, keypad or automatic features.
You can still use your mechanical key, but turning the key too far can sometimes cause the lock to lose its calibration.
Here’s what that means and how to avoid it.
What Calibration Does
When you calibrate your Linus lock, it learns:
- The unlocked position
- The locked position
- How many turns the lock needs to move between these points
The lock then always uses this exact number of turns.
It does not track the cylinder’s physical position—only the amount of rotation it learned during calibration.
Why Using a Mechanical Key Can Cause Issues
Using the key will not cause problems as long as you turn it within the same number of turns the lock learned during calibration.
But miscalibration can occur if:
- The cylinder can turn further than the amount you calibrated
- Someone uses the key and turns it past the calibrated limit
- The cylinder type doesn’t rotate on the inside when you use the key on the outside (common with some dual‑clutch cylinders)
In these cases, the lock ends up in a different position than expected — so the next motor‑driven lock/unlock may not align correctly.
Which Cylinders Are More Prone to Miscalibration?
Miscalibration is more likely if:
- The cylinder allows multiple full rotations (more than 2 turns)
- The cylinder has no physical “stop points”
- The lock was calibrated for fewer turns than the cylinder physically allows
- The cylinder’s clutch prevents the internal thumbturn from moving when the external key is used
How to Prevent Miscalibration
Best Practice
Use the Yale Home app, keypad or auto‑unlock as your primary way to operate the lock.
The mechanical key is best kept for backup or emergencies.
If You Need to Use the Key Regularly
To avoid calibration problems:

Calibrate using the full number of turns your lock cylinder supports.
(Example: If the lock needs 3 full turns, calibrate all 3.) -
Make sure everyone in the home turns the key only within that same range.

If the lock frequently becomes uncalibrated, check:
- The number of physical turns your cylinder requires
- Whether recalibration is needed
- Whether your cylinder type allows unlimited rotation or has a dual‑clutch design

If possible, choose a cylinder with fixed end‑stops so the key cannot turn past the calibrated range.
