Support for YDG413A Smart Lock

Everyday Use

  • How do I lock the door when exiting?

To lock the door, simply touch the keypad with your palm. If the auto-lock function is enabled, the lock will automatically secure the door a few seconds after it is closed.

  • What are the available methods for unlocking the door?

      The YDG413A allows access via:

    · Fingerprint authentication

    · PIN code entry

    · Bluetooth through the Yale Home App

  • Is there a way to protect my PIN code from being observed?

Yes, the lock features a “Fake PIN” mode, allowing you to insert random digits before or after your actual code, reducing the risk of PIN exposure.

  • What should I do if I forget to lock the door?

When auto-lock is enabled, the door will lock itself automatically. If manual intervention is needed, the lock can be secured via a palm touch or remotely through the Yale Home App.

  • Can I adjust or mute the sound from the lock?

Certainly. The keypad tones and voice guidance volume can be adjusted—or completely muted—through the lock’s settings in administrator mode.

  • How can I provide temporary access to guests or service personnel?

You can generate a One-Time PIN code, which is valid for a single use and automatically deleted thereafter. This is ideal for deliveries, visitors, or short-term service access.

(Please refer to user manual section 21)

  • Is it possible to view access history?

Yes, if the lock is connected to the Yale Home App, you may view a log of user activity, including time and method of entry.

  • What happens if someone tries to tamper with the lock?

In the event of repeated incorrect attempts or physical tampering, the system activates an alarm and enters lockout mode, temporarily disabling further access.

  • Will the lock function during a power outage?

Absolutely. The lock operates independently on AA batteries. If they are depleted, a 9V battery terminal on the exterior provides temporary emergency power.

  • Can multiple family members use the lock?

Yes. The lock supports the registration of up to 100 unique fingerprints and 100 PIN codes, allowing individual access for all household members.

  • How can I confirm the door is properly locked?

A short confirmation tone and LED indicator are triggered upon locking. If integrated with the app, the status can also be monitored remotely.

  • Can a user be temporarily disabled instead of deleted?

The current system design does not support temporary deactivation. To revoke access, the user profile must be removed and re-added later if needed.

  • Is the keypad visible at night or in low lighting?

Yes. The touchpad is backlit and activates when touched, making it easy to operate in the dark.

Troubleshooting guide

  • The lock is unresponsive. What should I do?

Replace the AA batteries or apply a 9V battery to the emergency power terminals. Once powered, install fresh batteries immediately.

  • Fingerprint is not being recognized.

Ensure the sensor is clean and the finger is dry. Re-register the fingerprint using proper placement and pressure for improved accuracy.

  • PIN code is not accepted.

Check for input errors. If incorrect attempts exceed the limit, the lock will enter lockout mode for 3 minutes. Wait and try again.

  • Bluetooth connection with Yale Home App fails.

Ensure Bluetooth and location services are enabled. Stay within range, restart the app, and confirm the lock is listed in the app’s device list.

  • Auto-lock is not functioning.

Verify that auto-lock is enabled in settings. Also, ensure that the door sensor and magnet are correctly aligned.

  • No sound or voice prompts from the lock.

Check if the volume has been muted. Restore default settings or perform a reset if necessary.

  • The door is not locked or unlocking properly.

Check the alignment between the lock body and the strike plate. Adjust or recalibrate to ensure the bolt extends and retracts correctly.

  • Unable to register new users.

You may have reached the user limit. Delete unused profiles before attempting to add new fingerprints or PINs. Use admin credentials for all registration actions.

  • Keypad does not respond to touch.

Ensure the touch surface is clean and your fingers are dry. Remove and reinsert the batteries to refresh the system.
