Getting Started with Matter

Here you can find the answers on Getting Started with Matter

  • Matter is a common language for smart home devices. It is a protocol that is a unified, open-source standard for smart home devices, developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), formerly known as the Zigbee Alliance.

It aims to simplify the smart home ecosystem by ensuring that devices from different manufacturers can work together seamlessly.

  • Your Linus L2 supports Matter, the new standard for Smart Home devices. Matter allows secure control of your Smart Home devices across various platforms. It enables seamless integration of your Smart Lock into leading Smart Home ecosystems. Local Matter integration operates within your own network, offering quick and secure control of your Smart Lock.

Matter enables seamless integration into leading Smart Home ecosystems. To integrate your Linus L2 into your Smart Home, you need a suitable hub that supports Matter. Compatible hubs include devices from Apple Home, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and Amazon Alexa.

Activate Matter through the Yale home app when you set up your device. Alternatively, you can scan the Matter QR code.

    • Interoperability: Matter-enabled devices integrate effortlessly into your Smart Home. Each family member can use their preferrred platform to control the Smart Home, enhancing user convenience and satisfaction.
    • Local Integration: Matter-enabled devices communicate locally with hubs, ensuring your data never leaves your home. This local integration provides a secure and reliable way to control your Smart Home devices.
    • Easy activation: Activating Matter is simple and quick, taking just a few moments to set up. This makes it accessible for all users.
    • Integration via Yale Wi-Fi Bridge: Beside the Matter integration, Linus L2 supports also Google Home and Amazon Alexa integration via cloud thanks to Yale Bridge. This cloud service allows you to access and control your Linus L2 anytime, even when you're outside your home network. You can simultaneously use local Matter integration and cloud integration, offering the flexibility to enjoy the benefits of both approaches.
