Everyday Use

  • How do I turn the Safe's sounds on/off?

To adjust the Safe's sound settings:

    1. Open the Yale Home App.
    2. Select your Safe and then tap the gear icon in the top right of the screen to get to Settings.
    3. Scroll to Device Settings and select.
    4. From here you can adjust the Safe's sounds to your preference.
  • I do not receive notifications from the Yale Home app, why?

To receive Smart Safe notifications anywhere, a Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge (sold seperately) must be linked to the Safe and set up in the Yale Home app.

  • Can I operate the Yale Smart Safe remotely if not within Bluetooth range?

The Yale Smart Safe can easily be operated locally using the Yale Home app- as long as you're within Bluetooth range.

The Smart Safe does not have built-in Wi-Fi. If you wish to control it and receive notifications remotely (when you're not nearby), you'll need a Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge (sold separately). This Bridge connects to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and communicates with Safe via Bluetooth, enabling remote access through the Yale Home app.

If you choose not to use the Wi-Fi Bridge, you can still operate the Safe locally using the Yale Home app- as long as you're within Bluetooth range.

    2. Open the Yale Home App and connect to the Smart Safe via Bluetooth.

Troubleshooting

  • What happens if I lose my Safe key and the batteries run out?

Don’t worry — you can still access your safe. There is a 9V battery terminal located underneath the keypad. Simply hold a good-quality 9V battery against the terminal to temporarily power the keypad. Once powered, you can unlock the safe using your PIN code or the Yale Home App.

  • Why can't I remove my key from the Safe?

If you've used the key to open the safe, you must also use it to lock the safe again before removing it. Once it's locked, you can continue using the entry code or the Yale Home app to access it.

  • Why does my Yale Home app say there's poor connectivity to the Connect Bridge?

To ensure a strong connection, make sure your Connect Bridge is installed within 10 feet of your safe. It should also have a clear line of sight to the front of the safe — obstacles like walls or furniture can interfere with the signal.

If you're still experiencing issues, try relocating the Connect Bridge or checking for any sources of wireless interference nearby.

  • My Yale Smart Safe is unresponsive, although the door is open and the contents are accessible.

    Troubleshooting Steps:

    1.  Check the Keypad Response: Press any key on the Safe’s keypad and confirm that the green LED flashes when pressed.
    2.  Inspect Battery Installation: Ensure the batteries are installed correctly, paying attention to the polarity (+/-) in the battery compartment.
    3.  Verify Battery Power: Check that the batteries have sufficient charge. Replace them with fresh ones if necessary.
  • My Yale Smart Safe is unresponsive, the door is locked and the contents are not accessible.

    Troubleshooting Steps:

    Step 1: Provide Backup Power

    • Connect a 9V battery to the terminals located just below the keypad. This will temporarily power the safe and allow you to enter your PIN.
    • Alternatively, use the physical override key provided with your safe to open the door.

    Step 2: Check App Settings

    • Open the Yale Home app and go to Keypad Settings.
    • Ensure the operating mode is set to Normal Mode and not Privacy Mode, which disables keypad access.
