How does the Yale Smart Alarm Hub connect to the internet?
There are two options to connect to the internet:
- Via an ethernet cable directly to your router
- Via Wi-Fi connection to your router. NOTE: the Yale Smart Alarm is compatible with 2.4 Ghz frequency networks
How do I configure my Yale Smart Alarm Keypad?
Following the setup process of the Yale Keypad you will be asked to create an alarm code. This code will be used to arm and disarm your Yale Smart Alarm System.
There is also an option to enable or disable the Yale Keypad backlight within the Yale Home app via the Settings menu.
Will my pet (dog or cat) trigger my Yale Indoor Motion Sensor?
The trigger is dependent on the size of the pet. Our sensors are immune to animals up to 30 kilograms when set to pet mode and positioned at a height of 2.4 meters.
Ensure the motion sensor is set to pet mode in the device settings via the Yale Home app, this will account for the pet in order not to trigger the alarm.

How to Fully Arm Your Yale Smart Alarm System (Away Mode)
Using the Yale Home App:
- Open the Yale Home app.
- Tap on the Alarm from the dashboard and then tap Away.
Using the Yale Keypad:
- Press the Away Arm button.
- Enter your alarm code to confirm.
Using the Yale Keyfob:
- Press the Away Arm button.
How to Part-Arm Your Yale Smart Alarm System (Home Mode)
Using the Yale Home App:
- Open the Yale Home app.
- Tap on the Alarm from the dashboard and then tap Home to part-arm your system.
Using the Yale Keypad:
- Press the Home arm button on the keypad.
- Enter your alarm code to confirm.
Using the Yale Keyfob:
- Press the Home arm button on the keyfob.
Tip: HOME mode typically arms only selected sensors, allowing you to move freely in certain areas while keeping others protected.
How to Disarm Your Yale Smart Alarm System
Using the Yale Home App:
- Open the Yale Home app.
- Tap on the Alarm from the dashboard and then tap Disarm.
Using the Yale Keypad:
- Press the Disarm button on the keypad.
- Enter your alarm code to confirm.
Using the Yale Keyfob:
- Press the Disarm button on the keyfob.
How do I add more users to my Yale Smart Alarm system?
To add users to your system, follow these steps:
- Open the Yale Home app.
- Tap “Access” at the bottom of the dashboard.
- Tap “Invite” at the top of the Guest List page.
You can grant access to users in one of the following ways:
- Yale Home app access
- Alarm code access (requires a Yale Alarm Keypad)
- Yale Keyfob access (dedicated to each user)
How do I remove a user from my Yale Smart Alarm system?
To remove a user from your system, follow these steps:
- Open the Yale Home app on your smartphone or tablet.
- From the dashboard, tap “Access” at the bottom of the screen. This will show a list of users who currently have access.
- Select the user you want to remove.
- Scroll down and tap “Remove User.”
- Confirm the removal when prompted.
Once removed, the user will no longer have access to your Yale Smart Alarm system.

My Hub reports that It is offline?
Check the Yale Smart Alarm hub is connected to the internet:
- Open the Yale Home app.
- Tap All Devices.
- Select your Yale Alarm Hub.
- Tap the Alarm Hub again to open its settings.
- Under Utilities, select Network Settings.
- Here you can check Ethernet and Wi-Fi connection.
You can also check:
- Check the ethernet cable is connected at both ends, if using ethernet.
- Check if other devices in the same household are offline, the local network itself may be offline.
My Yale Smart Alarm Hub beeps every 15 minutes and shows a warning triangle?
This is to alert you to a problem that has been registered by the Yale Smart Alarm Hub, normally this is to warn you of a low battery or tamper alert.
Check the Yale Home app, on the Alarm dashboard screen there will be a notification that you can open for specific information on what is triggering the alert.
My Yale Smart Alarm Hub beeps every 15 minutes and shows a red cloud icon?
f your Yale Smart Alarm Hub beeps every 15 minutes and displays a red cloud icon, this means the hub is not connected to the internet or Yale cloud services.
How to Check and Restore Internet Connection:
- Open the Yale Home app.
- Tap All Devices.
- Select your Yale Alarm Hub.
- Tap the hub again to open its Settings.
- Under Utilities, select Network Settings.
- Review the status of both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections.
How can I soft reboot the Yale Smart Alarm Hub?
Turn the mains power off, followed by the backup battery off for 10 seconds.
The backup battery switch is highlighted below, you will need to remove the Alarm Hub back cover to access the switch.
My Yale Keypad Arms but does not Disarm, why?
To resolve this issue, please check the following in the Yale Home app:
- Open the Yale Home app.
- Go to Access and select the relevant user.
- Ensure that the user has an Alarm Code set up in the app.
- Confirm that the correct code is being used to disarm the alarm.
Note:
The alarm can only be disarmed if the user has a valid alarm code assigned in the app. If the code is missing or incorrect, the system will not disarm.Support for Troubleshooting
